Saturday we walked around the shopping are in Blowing Rock and had lunch. We all kind of split off to go in different directions and then met again around 2:00 near the cupcake shop. This is everyone except me and Shannon near the cupcake shop.
Aunt Sue and I and Julie and Shannon had lunch at this restaurant. The food was not so good, but it was a nice place to sit outside and enjoy the cool air and fall colors of the leaves.
Saturday morning we went to the Watauga County Farmers' Market. So many pretty things to see and good things to eat. On Kristie's advice, I bought some sour dough buns for the paninis and they were really good. Got some pumpkin butter and raspberry jam, too.
This is the entrance to the Tweetsie Railroad in Boone, NC. We could hear the whistle blow all the way up at Kristie's place. During the month of October, it turns into a Ghost Train at night. The whistle changes from sweet to scary...it really sounds creepy, too.
Saturday evening we went to Bistro Roca for dinner. It was good and a very happening place. It was crowded...but Kristie and her husband had gotten reservations so no problems for us.
These animals were at the farmers' market. I think their people were selling yarn.
My dream would be to have a place like Kristie's in the mountains. This just dreamy to me. This is the side deck. It's just perfect for staying out of the rain but also for watching the little birds and chipmunks that come to the feeder.
These beautiful hydrangeas were everywhere up there. These were in Kristie's yard.
Cute little bike/flower pot scene.

Oh, such great memories!!!! Thanks for sharing these photos! Maybe next time we will all take that Tweetsie Train!
great pictures! that was such a fun time. I didn't think I'd ever been to Boone/Blowing rock before but my mom told me that they took me there as a small child and we went to Tweetsie. I don't remember the trip but I do remember pictures in an album from Tweetsie. I'd always wondered where those were taken. hahaha!
