complication from surgery

Here are all the puggies trying to fit on one mat. I don't know why they do this other than to have a "show of force" because it's dinnertime and they want me to get up and feed them.

I spent a couple of hours for two days here getting CT scans this past week.

The dogwood in our yard blooming. It's so pretty. I wish it bloomed more than once a year...but it's a true sign of spring.

Well, I developed a complication from the surgery. It didn't show up until Sunday a week ago. I have incontinence. Something either weakened or developed a hole shortly after surgery. They think it's the ureter tube. I had CT scans on two days and then I had a catheter placed in my bladder for one night. Friday morning I had to be at the hospital at 5:00 for a procedure to be done at 7:00. The urologist was trying to place a stent into my kidney to keep the urine from going into the ureter tube to give it a chance to heal. He couldn't get it to go in that way. So I stayed in the hospital and at 8:00 Friday night, the interventional radiologist had to go into my kidney through my back and place a catheter. So I have a catheter coming out of my back that is keeping urine out of my right kidney. Sometime this week, I'll go back and the radiologist will try again to place the stent into the kidney to relieve the ureter for a month. If he can't put the stent in, then I'll have to wear the catheter for a month...yuck...and then they will have to open me up and do surgery to fix the problem in my ureter. So I'm having some pain but I am taking my pain medicine for once! I wanted to get back to work but not sure that I'm going to be able to sit here for any length of time and do my work.

Hopefully, this will all clear up before too long. Eventually, it will get fixed one way or the other!

I know the pugs love it when I stay in the bed, so it's a "good thing" for them. The husband has been really helpful with this problem so I have to give him points!

That's all I know for right now! I'll be back with updates soon.

Oh Sandy! This sounds horrible. I am so sorry you have to have the catheter in for a while. I had one during and after both of my c-sections and HATED it. In fact, I think I will email you privately and share my most embarassing catheter story.

I am praying that all will be fixed for you VERY SOON!

Oh sweetie! It is horrible when things go awry and there's nothing you can do.

Thankfully this is a common enough problem. (my mother had similar complications) and they should have you good as new soon.

Let us know what happens. You're in our thoughts and prayers.
